How to Export Internet Explorer Favorites

The procedure below is for Windows machines that do not have separate user profiles enabled. If profiles are enabled on a computer, each user’s bookmarks are kept separately and this procedure needs to be repeated for each user who needs to have bookmarks saved.

Select the root of the Favorites.

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Select the File menu then select Import and Export…
  3. On the next screen, click Next.
  4. Highlight Export Favorites and click Next.
  5. Select the root (i.e. the uppermost folder) of the Favorites as illustrated. Click Next.
  6. Select Export to a File or Address. In the box below, enter the path and name of the file where you would like to save the favorites. Make a note of where you saved the file for future reference. Click Next.
  7. On the next screen, click Finish.
  8. The Success Dialog appears. Click OK.

How to Import Internet Explorer Favorites

To merge the old and new favorites, import at the root.

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Select the File menu then select Import and Export…
  3. On the next screen, click Next.
  4. Select Import Favorites and click Next.
  5. Select Import from a File or Address and enter the path and name of the file where you saved the favorites. Click Next.
  6. Select the folder into which you would like to import the favorites and click Next. To merge the old and new favorites, import at the root (i.e. the uppermost folder) as illustrated.
  7. On the next screen, click Finish.
  8. The Success Dialog appears. Click OK.

How to Export Cookies in Internet Explorer

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Select the File menu then select Import and Export…
  3. On the next screen, click Next.
  4. Highlight Export Cookies and click Next.
  5. Select Export to a File. In the box below, enter the path and name of the file where you would like to save the cookies. Make a note of where you saved the file for future reference. Click Next.
  6. In the next screen, click Finish.
  7. The Success Dialog appears. Click OK.

How to Import Cookies in Internet Explorer

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
